Homemade Body Scrubs for Dry Skin

Homemade Body Scrubs for Dry Skin

Exfoliation is as important as cleansing in a skincare regimen. It is essential to whisk away dead skin cells from the surface of our skin and make it radiant. But one should not go overboard with exfoliation as excess exfoliation will do more harm than good.
Mentioned below are few homemade body scrub recipes that are not only cost-effective but are chemical-free too. Most importantly, these homemade scrubs are fun to prepare and will leave your skin feeling clean and refreshed. So buff, scrub, and peel your way to smooth with these handmade remedies
Coffee Sugar Body Scrub
Take one-fourth cup ground coffee, one-fourth cup sugar, 2 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil and 3 Vitamin E capsules (and extracted oil from the slit Vitamin E capsule). Mix all the ingredients in a bowl, you can add more oil if the mixture is too dry for your liking. Use this scrub on your entire body and massage gently for 10-15 seconds, concentrating more on problem areas like elbows, knees etc. Rinse with lukewarm water and apply moisturizer to retain the moisture in the skin. Coffee has been rumoured to reduce cellulite and help with varicose veins. Whether those claims are true or not, this scrub will definitely make your skin silky smooth.
Banana Sugar Body Scrub
Take 1 ripe banana, 3 tablespoons granulated sugar and ¼ teaspoon pure vanilla extract or your favourite essential oil. Smash ingredients together with a fork into a chunky goop. Don’t over-mash or it will become too thin. Pat the sugar mixture and gently massage over your body. Rinse off with warm water and moisturize your skin as usual.
Spicy Sugar Scrub
Mix 3/4 cup sugar, 2 teaspoons ground cloves, 1 tablespoon dried rose petals and 1 1/2 cups sesame oil in a large bowl. Use this scrub on damp skin twice a week, scrubbing with your hands or a washcloth in small, circular motions. Rinse in a warm shower. Sugar feels slightly gentler on your skin than salt.
Coconut and Brown Sugar Scrub
Take 1/2 cup coconut oil, 1/2 cup brown sugar and 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract. Mix well all the ingredients and store in glass jar. To use dampen skin in the shower, rub scrub all over in firm, circular motions, and then rinse off with warm water.
Sea Salt and Honey Scrub
Mix 1 part sea salt and 2 parts fresh honey in a bowl and gently scrub your body with it. Rinse off with lukewarm water to feel the difference in your skin. Do not use this scrub on cracked and irritated skin. This body scrub is essential for dry skin, since honey is highly hydrating and sea salt will buff away all the flakiness.
Sugar and Olive Oil Scrub
Whisk together 2 tbsp. olive oil, 2 tbsp. sweet almond oil, 1/2 cup white cane sugar and 1-3 drops lavender essential oil in a bowl and then pour this mixture into a container with an airtight lid. It should last 2-3 weeks if kept away from water. Use a tablespoon scoop to dish out a few dollops once or twice a week, scrub, and rinse for a healthy skin.
Hope you would find these body scrubs useful and will go for any of these homemade body scrubs to exfoliate your skin once or twice weekly.
