There are several reasons why dandruff could be troubling you. If you’re reading this, it’s possible you have tried anti-dandruff shampoos, a few home remedies but it isn’t helping much. Try this solution now with easily available apple cider vinegar:
How it helps your hair
Apple cider vinegar is rich in mallic acid (an organic acid). Apart from that it also has powerful enzymes that help kill bacteria and fungus that tend to cause dandruff. It also helps to open up clogged pores and acts as a mild conditioner for your hair.
The acid content helps to reduce itchiness of the scalp and drastically brings down flaking. A bonus benefit of this wonder liquid is that it gives your hair a lovely shine and volume.
How to use it
- Take as much apple cider vinegar as you need (depending on the thickness of your hair).
- Now, part your hair and apply the vinegar onto your scalp with the help of a cotton ball.
- Make sure the vinegar touches your scalp and do not merely apply it on your hair shaft.
- Once you have applied it all over your scalp, gently massage it in.
- Now wrap your hair in a bun, making sure the ends of your hair are tucked into the bun (this will ensure that even the tips of your hair are conditioned).
- Wrap a warm towel on your hair to ensure that the pores of your scalp open up and the vinegar gets a chance to percolate into the skin.
- Leave this in for one hour and wash off with warm water. Do not use shampoo after applying apple cider vinegar. If you are uncomfortable with the smell or need to wash your hair, do so the next day.
- Repeat this process twice a week for one month and watch your dandruff simply disappear.
Tip: Do not apply apple cider vinegar on your hair after you apply oil. Oil tends to coat your scalp, and since vinegar is essentially water-based it will not be able to penetrate the layer of oil. Also, if you have sensitive skin, apply a small portion on the base of your hair line, at the back of your head, to check for any allergies you might develop.
