Homemade Tomato Face Packs

Tomatoes are so underrated in beauty industry.  Its a basic item in everyone’s kitchen and not only do they add taste and flavour to dishes, they have abundant antioxidants and vitamins which are beneficial for all skin types.  Tomatoes are rich in lycopene which protects skin from free radical damage.  Tomatoes can remove the stubbornest of tans.  It can reduce the pore size and hence a boon for oily skin.  Tomatoes are rich in Vitamin A, C, and Vitamin K too, so tomato face packs would be a potent face pack providing all essential vitamins.  Tomatoes also have astringent properties and can clean your skin thoroughly.  Also, they act as natural exfoliators, clearing away dead and flaky skin to reveal soft and smooth skin.  I am sure you would want to make face packs out of such a powerhouse vegetable/fruit, and here are some easy face pack ideas that you can make on your own 🙂 Of course, the easiest way would be to rub a slice of tomato on your face, but mix it with other good ingredients, and get a great back with lots of benefits.
This is a great pack for oily skin.  Take freshly squeezed pulp of one tomato and mix in one tablespoon of olive oil. Mix both the ingredients well and apply on the face for 20 minutes.  This face pack works very well for flaky and dry skin.
This face pack removes tan and exfoliates skin effectively.  All you need is fresh tomato, yogurt, and sugar granules. Cut the tomato into four slices and sprinkle the sugar granules on it.  Pour a bit of yogurt over the slice and then rub it on your face.
This is a good pack for removing tan and also shows astringent effects on the skin.  All you need is 1 whole tomato, 2 spoons of curd, and half a lemon.  Cut the tomato into half and squeeze the juice into a bowl.  Take half a lemon and squeeze in the juice into the tomato juice.  Pour in a bit of curd into this mixture and apply on face and neck.  You can add multani mitti or besan if the pack is too runny.  This pack reduces the size of pimples if you have any. Regular use will also lighten scars, blemishes, and pigmentation.
This face pack exfoliates skin and removes tan if used regularly over a week.  Aloe vera moisturizes skin.  Here’s how you can make the mask.  Take fresh aloe vera gel and mix it with masoor dal powder, take a bit of ginger paste and squeeze the juice into the paste, add in half a raw tomato’s pulp. Mix all the ingredients well, keep on face and neck for 15 minutes and rinse off with cold water.
A tried and tested method to get glowing skin, this pack can clear pimple scars and prevent pimple outbreak.  To make this face pack, blend a tomato with some coriander leaves with rose water to make a paste.  If the pack is too runny, you can add multani mitti.  Keep this face pack on the face and neck for 20 minutes and rinse off with cold water. With regular use, you will get acne-free skin. Coriander leaves also have anti-ageing effects on skin.
